Recent years have seen a flurry of luxury hotel openings and the pace looks set to continue at a clip going into the new year. From the Melbourne riverside and Lake Como’s shimmering shoreline to the heart of midtown Manhattan, it’s all about location – here are some of the luxury hotels opening in 2026 worth planning a trip around.

Hannah St Hotel, Melbourne

Housed within a 65-storey tower rising more than 200 metres above Melbourne’s Southbank district is Hannah St Hotel . Design firm Flack Studio injects the property’s 10 floors with expressive colours, collectible art and a sense of modern nostalgia;  while the188 compact rooms and suites blend retro charm with contemporary elegance. The Clubhouse floors bring a members-club energy with a 25-metre lap pool, sauna, gym, podcast studio and rooftop terrace. Five venues by Melbourne hospitality veterans The Mulberry Group – from a refined lobby bar to a rooftop lounge – anchor the hotel as a new social and cultural hub for locals and travellers alike.

Soori Penang 

One of Southeast Asia’s grandest clan houses, Khoo Kongsi, is set to welcome a sister property: a boutique hotel named Soori Penang. Set in the Unesco-recognised heritage precinct of George Town, the hotel is tucked within temple grounds and represents a meticulous restoration of 15 clan shophouses by architect Soo K Chan, who grew up in these very homes. Minimalism meets cultural memory with carved stone details, lattice shutters, air wells and serene courtyards. The one- to three-bedroom suites are designed as private sanctuaries, each with their own reflective pool, complemented by onyx lanterns and bespoke furnishings.

Singapore gets its second hotel in The Luxury Collection with the city centre arrival of Frasers House A conversion of the InterContinental Singapore, the 406-room property is part of the lively Bugis Junction development in the Bras Basah-Bugis arts and cultural district. Inside are six dining and social venues, an outdoor pool, fitness centre and nearly 1,000sqm of event space. Heritage neighbourhood Kampong Glam and Arab Street are nearby, and the hotel is connected to Bugis MRT station, making getting around Singapore a breeze.

Kimpton ’s newest Midtown opening brings townhouse-inspired warmth to Park Avenue, thanks to its address in a 1928 landmark near Grand Central station. Redesigned interiors feel residential and intimate: a living room with stone fireplace, library, custom furnishings and views of Park Avenue and the Empire State Building. Families can book one of the 14 connecting options among the 205 rooms and suites. The Park & Bel café shifts from breakfast pastries to evening small plates and cocktails, while Kimpton signatures – morning coffee and the beloved wine hour – elevate the home-away-from-home feel.

Four Seasons Red Sea at Shura Island 

Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Red Sea project will see a slew of luxury resorts opening on Shura Island. Among them, a Four Seasons property designed by Foster + Partners on the island’s eastern tip. Most of the 150 rooms and suites offer sweeping sea views, plus there’s a full-service spa with hammam, three pools, tennis courts, six dining outlets, and separate beaches for families and adults. Nearby attractions include dive sites and the ancient ruins at Hegra. This is just the beginning: other luxury resorts opening on the island include Raffles, Rosewood, Jumeirah, Editon, Fairmont and more.

Making a splash on the shores of Italy’s most glamorous lake is the 148-room Lake Como Edition , which marks its grand opening in March 2026. Design duo Neri&Hu have reimagined an 1830s palazzo in the town of Cadenabbia, contrasting clean lines and grand interiors inspired by famed Italian architect Carlo Scarpa. Highlights include stunning lake views, a floating pool, private boat dock, terraced Mediterranean gardens, and The Longevity Spa offering advanced biohacking treatments. Celebrity chef Mauro Colagreco leads four dining concepts, pledging to bring a new culinary standard to Como.

Public West Hollywood 

Nightclub impresario turned hip hotelier Ian Schrager returns to Los Angeles with Public West Hollywood on the Sunset Strip. Expect design-forward luxury for all ethos with architect John Pawson’s minimalist lines, a vibrant social-hub lobby, a see-and-be-seen pool, and a lush 16,000 sq ft rooftop terrace with 360-degree LA views. Add to that two restaurants and a nightclub likely to draw regular queues.
